Wind Spirit is a 4-masted yacht, which can accommodate up to 148 guests. It has 4 decks and a gross tonnage of 5,736 and gives a feel like that of private yacht. The ship has wide open teak decks, which is unusual for small ships. Guests will always find nooks for private moments like their own veranda. The staterooms offer facilities like flat-screen TV with DVD player, Bose SoundDock speakers for Apple iPods, queen beds and ocean views. The ship has two primary dining venues, AmphorA restaurant and Veranda restaurant. For dining under the stars, you have to make a reservation for Candles. Other amenities onboard Wind Spirt are Casino, Library, Pool, WindSpa, Watersports Platform and Hot Tub.

The staff of Windstar’s Wind Sprit were exceptional. By second day they new your name and cabin number. Captain Belinda was full of personality and enthusiasm. This was also reflected within her senior staff on down.CONS
The ship could use some updating which I understand is happening in 2025. Also would have appreciated access to chips or nibbles during “happy hour”. The ship’s store lacked snacks, candy and basic toiletriesRECOMMENDED

YesThe ship is a little tired and needs updating but the trip made up for it. Wished we stayed longer in other ports so that we could do more than one excursion and be able to experience more of the islands.

The casual elegance; the genuine warmth and enthusiasm of the captain and crew; the collegial feeling of being on a small ship and getting to know passengers and crew; the food is fabulous; attention to detail throughout the ship; every need and want seems to be anticipated; from booking to the trip itself, Windstar's communication is warm, friendly, accurate.CONS
I honestly can't think of any downsidesRECOMMENDED
YesWe just finished a voyage through French Polynesia on the Wind Spirit. The best word I can think of for Tahiti, Mo'orea, Bora Bora, Huahine, and our other stops in the Society Islands is ... enchanting. The Wind Spirit and her crew feel a part of the islands. Beautiful, welcoming, and real. Having sailed with numerous cruise lines over the years, this is it. It is Windstar for us from now on. Wind Spirit is the epitome of casual elegance. The staterooms are comfortable and well appointed. The public spaces are lovely, but not showy or pretentious. We took advantage of the all-in package with drinks and gratuities included, as well as the laundry service. A fantastic value that made our voyage easy and relaxed.

Limited entertainment. Just some singing (although they were good, just not other options)RECOMMENDED
YesWe were pleasantly surprised how much we liked the small ship and especially how well all the crew took care of us. For some of them to remember our names from day one and recognize us anywhere on the ship was amazing. Charlie was especially kind and helpful when eating at the Veranda. Bombang was punctual and so helpful every time we ordered room service, which was a lot! The excursions offered were so fun and insightful.

NoI highly recommend this cruise. The staff was amazing from the minute we got on board. We sailed throughout French Polynesia with an overnight in Bora Bora. The feel of the ship was more of yachting rather than a large cruise ship. They treat everybody very well and I heard nothing but compliments throughout the week. The food could be a little better with a bigger variety but overall good. I loved the private parties they had on private Motus. One day we had a beach party with snorkeling and water sports for everybody on the ship and one night they did the same with local entertainment that got everybody joining in.

YesOutstanding service and crusine. Tahitians are tres jolie, like the scenery and waters. Don't want to fly AA, in future. On forthcoming trip this summer, would like to consider fly either Super Economy, or BUSINESS, or forbid, 1st class. Sitting next to a Parisian of much AVOIR DUPOIS was unseemly for 8 hrs. On future real long distance travels, will have to consider 'breaks' in travel by an overnite layover to hold down 'time zone' fatigue. I appreciate your efforts/connections re the upgraded stateroom. Regards, cliff

Great service, loved small ship, great localeCONS
Food quality was not great, rooms a bit wornRECOMMENDED
YesLoved French Polynesia and the small ship. Seemed like our own personal Yacht with no Crowds or lines. Service was great with staff knowing you by name by the second day. Food quality in Amphora was below Princess or Royal Caribbean standards. By quality I mean seasoning, serving temp, etc. The Veranda was good and the deck BBQ was fabulous. Our Candles experience was not good. Poor service and cold food. Breakfast and lunch in the Veranda gave lots of fresh choices. Bread and dessert is their forte, so watch out for the weight gain. :) We loved the Polynesian show and buffet on Motu Tapu the 2nd Bora Bora night. Our couples massage under the stars one night was a highlight and well worth the money. Get a later time after 7 pm. Do not get the drink package unless you drink at least 8 drinks each per day. We took 2 bottles wine each on board then bought other drinks and our bar tab was only $300 for the week. The day on the motu at Tahaa was fun but don't get a beach massage unless you want a sand scrub also. :). The Captain is awesome and happy to have you on the bridge anytime and answer all your questions. He tried to be under sail as much as possible. All the stops were great and we booked our own shore excursions independent of Wind Star so I can't rate their excursions. Having paddle boards and kayaks to use off the back of the ship was fun. The ship holds 148 passengers so you know everyone by the end of the week. We met two other couples that we plan to keep in touch with and possibly vacation with next year. Age demographics are pretty balanced with couples from mid 30s to early 70s. There are no elevators and lots of stairs so not for those with mobility issues. A very active crowd. Fun, friendly too. This is a relaxing laid back cruise with only a two person band for evening entertainment, the casino was only open a few times and there are no shows or bingo. If that's your thing, go with princess. This is destination centered, very personalized ship. Again, service is amazing. You call for something and it arrives in 5 min. Like having your own personal butler. We had a blast. We are mid 40s and well traveled.

YesExcellent cruise ship! Small and personal. Exceptional service from all ship staff members including the captain. Great ports of call plus many great touches such as a fabulous on deck BBQ that included grilled lobster tails. We also enjoyed a motu picnic one day in a gorgeous location off the island of Taha'a. Ship staff even brought over a generator to operate a blender for mixed beverages! Another nice touch was local traditional Polynesian entertainment on the pool deck the afternoon we were docked in Raiatea. We also enjoyed an evening of wonderful traditional foods, including roast pig, and more local entertainment, including fire dancers the evening we were in Bora Bora. This ship provided everything we were looking for on our Polynesian cruise.
