Authentic experiences. Simple pleasures. Shared moments. Silversea's Millennium Class luxury cruise ships Silver Shadow and Silver Whisper offer you freedom and space to design your day. Slightly larger in size than ships Silver Cloud and Silver Wind, Silver Shadow retains Silversea's essence – spacious suites, a complement of only 388 guests, superior service – paired with a lively cosmopolitan atmosphere and enhanced amenities. Aboard the Silver Shadow, energize body and soul with complimentary Pilates and yoga in the expanded fitness center. Savour fine wines and French gastronomy in La Dame, enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in La Terrazza, or simply gaze at endless ocean views from The Grill. Not forgetting the regional-inspired The Restaurant, dining at sea has never been so good.

NoOur experience was a pure delight! The suite size with a walk-in closet has spoiled us forever. Each meal was amazing as if we were dining at our favorite 5 star restaurants. We really appreciated the overall friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff and crew. SilverSea really knows how to do "All-Inclusive" with class and expertise.

No<div>We departed Quebec City and finished 10 nights later in NYC. Pier 90. My favorite stop was Newport, Rhode Island and my 2nd favorite was Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. Simply beautiful. September 5, 2023 was a lil too early this year to see any leaves changing. If you want to see color I would elect to sail mid September- mid October MAX. </div> <div>We had outstanding service with all such beautiful smiles. Small ships are becoming more enjoyable as my years on this earth climb. Highly recommend a SILVERSEA experience. </div> <div>NOTHING to report that was Negative. </div>

No<div> <p style="margin-bottom: 7.5pt;"><span style="font-family:; font-size: 10.5pt;">Silversea Shadow will be dry docked in Nov 2019 , so it is no surprise that it is in need of some sprucing up. Silversea met the challenge of providing a great cruise experience. The cabins are well-appointed, with walk-in closets, bathtubs and separate showers. Lounge area with desk, couch and coffee table were spacious. I loved multiple choices of toiletries. Wifi worked well and was included in our package. The intimate size of the ship and guest/ staff ration made it feel like a country club at sea. Where Silversea really excelled is in first-class service. Our buttler anticipated our every need. Staff at the pool and other main areas were attentive with beverages. The remodeling of the La Dame restaurant, Connoisseur's Corner and the casino will be well received. Dining was like being in a five-star restaurant with a nice lounge/ bar for a pre-dinner drink. When in port it was a seamless experience getting on and off the ship. The access to bottled water and beach towels when boarding and exiting the ship was a nice touch. Nightlife and activities could be more varied and plentiful. The DJ/Disco area was busy with the same small crowd each night, so, apparently, that was not something that would need expansion. Staff were attentive, however, sometimes apparently harried and inexperienced. When dining in the main dining room the staff did not seem knowledgeable of the menu and had difficulty using the ipad when completing orders. The constant asking for cabin numbers was annoying. Even restaurants that were serving buffet style needed the information prior to seating you. I found the scheduled times for lunch limiting, and the pool should have service throughout the day. We were told we could order in our rooms or Butler could provide service on deck. With the new Arts Café, I trust this will not the case anymore. Shopping was very limited and the casino was deserted, however, it sounds like that will be addressed with the refurbishing. Excited to see the new Open-plan atrium. Spa and fitness activities while somewhat limited and small but were adequate. Outdoor dining was a true treat however in need of some more outdoor heaters. The outdoor jogging/walking path could be improved with a better location. The day at sea it was very clogged with people trying to place chairs in the path. The overall journey was a fabulous experience and I highly recommended it.</span><o:p></o:p></p> </div>

Size is perfect. Service was personal. The dining portions are petite. This kept passengers mindful of proper portion sizes. You certainly can order seconds thirds , etc. SIlver Shadow is one cruise experience I enjoyed without gaining an ounce. LOVED THIS FEATURE. Some complained about it, I thought it to be Brilliant. By the 3rd day all staff knew names. No crowded deck chairs, no crowded anything.CONS
The ship is getting a little Art Deco dated but it is maintained well. Onboard activities included classes on tanzanite, art sales, shoe insoles, well a little more sell sell sell than a luxury line should offer. I was expecting the boutique to roll out gold chains by the foot at any moment. Excursions are a bit pricey.RECOMMENDED
No<div>The ship is simply perfect. The perfect size to get to know fellow passengers. The perfect variety of restaurants. the staff and officers were beyond professional. The perfect entertainment and enrichment lectures. We had an astronomer onboard and viewed the Northern Lights while in Alaska. What a bonus. We had the perfect Butlers. The perfect stress free luxury cruise. Typically I am critical and this Silversea cruise experience was just - so easy does it. </div>

No<div>Silver Shadow provides a wonderful cruise experience, with just 382 guests and a crew of 302. Accommodations are spacious, modern and well equipped-sitting area/walk in closet/comfy bed/large bath with a full size tub and walk in shower. The entire staff is anxious to please and take care of every detail, from dining to bars to front desk to shore excursion desk. The butler service is outstanding, very attentive and ready to do anything needed to make your in cabin experiences perfect. Dining options offer a nice variety-with "The Restaurant" providing very attentive service and formal full menu/course style experience. LaTerrazza offers casual buffet options for breakfast and lunch. For dinner, fabulous Italian fare is served from an extensive menu, with local wines to fully compliment the meal . The pool area "Grill" provides an interesting "hot rock", cook your own dinner experience...not to be missed. Silversea delivers a true vacation experience and escape from daily stress and demands.</div>

No<div>We enjoyed this adventure, first time on this line of Cruise ships. We would definitely recommend this ship. Might have had a little more and better entertainment but not a big deal. We loved the walk in closet and large bathroom. Very accommodating if you needed something at all. Enjoyed it but ready to get off after 7 days! Always put the train first as we were too tired at the end for anything like a train. </div>

Yes<div>As first-time cruisers, with one traveler very nervous about motion sickness, our travel agent did an excellent job of navigating us through the world of cruising. He recommended SilverSea and it was a perfect fit for our group, which comprised one couple in their early 80s and one couple in their early 50s. He picked out the perfect cabins - 641 and 639, which happened to be about 1 1/2 feet wider than all the other cabins on that deck. He also arranged for a private tour in Skagway and gave recommendations on other tours to book through his firm and through SilverSea. He took care of everything from start to finish and made this splurge of a vacation effortless. The Silver Shadow is a beautiful ship and the staff pamper the guests to an almost embarrassing degree. It was fun getting to know them and seeing the genuine enjoyment the staff has working together and interacting with the guests. Our butler, Kiran, arranged for a private tour of the galley with the executive chef, which was a special treat. The port excursions were well organized and well executed. The on-board naturalist gave informative and entertaining lectures. There is an on-board professional shopper (Phillip) for those planning on purchasing jewelry in Alaska. All in all, this was an outstanding vacation. I recommend SilverSea highly.</div>

Quality of food (not including wine-see cons below), staff & service level, open seating in dining rooms, meals not rushed & food consistently served at appropriate temperature, not crowded at pool, many quiet lounges and decks to read and relax, top shelf liquor (vs. wine) offerings, roomy & clean staterooms with nice balconies.CONS
Wine offerings mediocre at best (No French or California wines available), no wine list to choose from-certain wines wereRECOMMENDED
YesOverall our experience on the Silver Shadow was far above previous large ship cruises. Excellent customer service, general food quality, the all inclusive nature of the package and the low passenger count made our voyage a relaxing and memorable one. For example, when one of the bartenders (Alphonso) found out they did not have our favorite after dinner liquor the first night of the cruise, he went out during the first stop and bought it for us. Now that is great customer service! Embarking and disembarking were quick and easy. The ship was pristine, although some areas were in need of repair, for example the rail on our veranda needed to be refinished. Although we did not use the butler service too much, it was nice having it available if needed. A nice touch was the cleaning/disinfecting of our suitcases the night before disembarking.
