YesRight out of port the experience began. The food was wonderful and staff was excellent. The entire staff was attentive and wanted our vacation to be our best ever. Everyday we found a new place to have lunch or a cold beverage and the evening meals were as varied with every kind of food you wanted. Our cabin exceeded our expectations and the attendant was always available whenever needed. A great ship, a wonderful layout of shops, restaurants and bars and the friendliest crew on the ocean.

Hardly anyRECOMMENDED
YesVery educational cruise, because of the lectures provided by Chris, a representative of the cruise entertainment/future cruise departments. Enjoyed all of his talks about the countries and ports we visited. The Panama Canal itself was amazing and an engineering feat unlike any other. It was definitely worth getting up very early and standing in the rain to see the whole process. The tours in the various ports were also interesting and the people friendly & helpful. The Princess staff & crew were great, too, as always. Everyone is friendly, efficient, and professional.

NoMuch prefer the card usage to enter stateroom. It fits in your shirt pocket or wallet rather than banging around on your body or having to buy a wrist band or whatever else Princess was trying to sell. Inputting data to the system was almost impossible and took us hours with system crashes and and scan functions which didn't work. I never was able to scan my passport into the system. When all was said and done all I used the medallion for was to enter the stateroom and for the one purchase I made. The card key would have been sufficient.

Yes<div>Staff was for the most part friendly, Food was good, ship is very dated in fact maintenance had to be performed in our children’s room next to ours they did upgrade the kids to a mini suite and told us since we wanted to be next to them they would try to get us moved so we could all be together, but the staff never followed thru with keeping our family together. Elevators need to be programmed to accommodate the crowds demand. There was a good variety of food but not anytime, hours vary. Entertainment was mostly comedy which was good we just expected more. The coffee at the coffee bar of which we drink mostly white mochas tasted like water and foam every time we tried it. It was constantly bad. I will go on another cruise because of the spectacular views and the different ports of call were very nice. It will most likely be on a different ship so I can truly rate the experience.</div>

Everywhere we went, every venue, every event, the staff was warm and friendly, so passionate and so caring! We are long time Royal Caribbean cruisers, (currently Diamond Plus), but it is important to note that we have now switched our loyalty to Princess. Why? That's easy! Princess cares! All of their passengers are treated so warmly, so respectfully. They go about their jobs with passion and energy. YesPrincess is an outstanding company they do things right and are well organized. The first day of breakfast on the ship I was not impressed with the food, however, they managed to get it together the rest of the cruise. The formal dinners were excellent and they said it was formal I went to the trouble to bring a suite andadded weight to my suitcase. I was very disappointed they didn’t enforce the formal dress code they allowed people in dressed in shorts and not the required formal attire as indicated in the princess requirements for formal attire. The excursions were excellent the people running them on land were always on time and made you welcome!! Princess cruise management is excellent and very well customer oriented. The best at what they do. Internet on ship was available and if you can live without talking on the phone until you reach your destination just use the internet for everything else. One you reach port I have At&T coverage for the most part was excellent in town and once you leave to go on an excursion you may not have any service until you get back close to the port. I can’t say enough about our trip it was incredible to see Alaska a once in a lifetime trip.

Yes<div>Wonderful trip! Great food! Excellent service from all wait staff and our room attendant. The naturalist, Michael Modolewski (sp?) was excellent! He is very knowledgeable, and such a such a great speaker. He is a wonderful addition to the cruise. Please make it more clear to first time cruisers where you can eat without an additional charge. That is not clear once you board the ship, and not clear in the Princess Patter. Food gifts: please provide storage containers or smaller plates with covers. My sister and her husband couldn't eat it all upon arrival, and there was no way to store the food - the plate and cover didn't fit in the small room frig. Do you have to push all that jewelry and leave all those cards in the room mailbox regarding jewelry? What a waste of paper, and I didn't take the cruise to be bombarded with jewelry ads. It became annoying. I attended the shopping seminar for Alaska made things and salmon, not jewelry. I hope you recycle all that paper! quality of ship entertainment, too much emphasis on sales.RECOMMENDED
YesI took my two grandkids ( ages 16 and 17) on an Alaska cruise to celebrate graduation and birthdays. We all shared an interior room which proved to be more than sufficient for the three of us. The beds were very comfortable and our steward very friendly. My grandaughter was especially delighted with the daily "Princess Patter ' newsletter ad quickly learned how to navigate throughout the ship. We lucked into excellent weather which made our shore excursions even more enjoyable. All staff were extremely friendly, particularly those in the ships restaurants. The food was good both in the buffet and in the dining rooms and given that I was traveling with two teens, the pizza/ice cream bar proved very popular. The disappointing parts were the lack of entertainment options that interested a younger crowd- bingo and art auctions aren't exactly their cup of tea. While there was a youth room, their visit to the room didn't interest them. They loved all shore excursions. Would have loved to have more time in Victoria, B.C. which is a beautiful city but the 4 hours available in the evening was not enough to truly enjoy it.There is quite a bit of 'sales pitch" while on board, particularly related to purchasing jewelry at ports of call which was a turnoff. Favorite activity of the teens was going whale watching, my favorite day by far was the day on the ship in Glacier Bay- stunning!

The excursion to the Butchart Gardens was very unorganized.RECOMMENDED
YesTwo groups (just the garden tour and the butterfly/garden tour met in the same area to disembark, but there was only one cruise representative coordinating both groups. There were no signs directing each group to a certain section of the room. The representative was not customer service oriented at all! She was a little abrasive and curt when questioned. She also indicated that she could only talk so loud, and therefore, many were having trouble hearing her directions. Ultimately, there should have been more employees to coordinate such a large group of people. Then, when we left the ship, there was NO signage indicating where we were supposed to congregate. After questioning someone with another tour, we were directed to the line of buses, which were also not very clearly marked. I also felt that the excursion was very rushed, especially at the gardens. I had heard about the beauty of the gardens, but we had very little daylight in which to enjoy them.

YesThe food and service at the "Crab Shack" on the ship was terrible and we paid two cover charges of $ 29 for that dinner which was too salty and the waiter tried to rush us.. There was no menu. The food and service at the Crown Grill on the ship was excellent and we ate dinner there twice The food and service at Michelangelo restaurant on the ship was excellent and we ate dinner there three times with the menu changing each time Unhappily, there was nobody to help me get from the end of the ship ramp to the pier at any of the three ports. In Ketchican we had to get off the ship at low tide and the ship ramp went down a steep slope(I was wheeled down that ramp) . However, the pier ramp went up a step slope and I had no help getting up that ramp. It was a very difficult struggle, but I made it to the pier.so that I could take the first excursion.

YesWe really enjoyed the cruise. If we had it to do over again we probably would have flown and spend more time on the islands. We had never been to Hawaii so 4 days was a little short to see the islands. Would have liked to go to a luau but it would have costs $100 each. The cruise ended up costing about double the base price which was $1300 each. With insurance, gratuities, port tax, and tours we ended up spending $5000. This will be our last cruise as we can't afford anymore.

This particular cruise seemed to attract a larger number of families with young children that might be disturbing to some older passengers...also poor info on transfer from ship to airport as detailed in comments below.RECOMMENDED
YesAlthough Princess had advised you they could not guarantee to get us there for a noon flight, we contacted Passenger Services as you advised, and they placed us with a 8:30 am disembarkation group, which got us to LAX in plenty of time. I cannot understand Princess' mis-information that caused us to get a refund from the previously paid transfer reservation, and leave it up to us to make our own arrangements! There were hundreds of people leaving the ship even earlier than we did. I'm very disappointed that Princess mislead us and think that was a regretful disservice to us that caused me unnecessary anxiety as to how we were going to manage for ourselves!

Ship is getting a little old and it is beginning to showRECOMMENDED
YesPuerto Vallarta was fun - Dona Estancia Tequila Factory especially; Cabo San Lucas was fun - snorkeling in Santa Maria Bay from a yacht; the Ruby Princess was lovely, though beginning to show her age. We heard that Ruby Princess had the best food in the fleet, and we agreed completely! The cliff divers in Mazatlan were amazing, the church was pretty, but our buffet lunch at some resort hotel was terrible. We were crowded in to a room too small (ten chairs at each table for eight), had to wait in line for 20 minutes to get our mediocre lunch with bitter margaritas. The folkloric show was decent, but definitely not worth the $139 price tag for the day. Overall the ship's itinerary was a lot of fun. You do have to enjoy days at sea since they are four out of the seven days, but Princess Champagne Breakfast on the Balcony and their informative wine tastings, good entertainment options, plus the Lotus spa make those sea days fly by! Definitely recommend this cruise.

No longer have the Solarium so don't have the enclosed pool area. It gets cold out in the middle of the Pacific and we were therefore unable to comfortabely use the pools or hot tubs. Also, the theater is relatively small so it was difficult to find a seat.RECOMMENDED
YesBy placing the beds against the far wall facing the door and running the desk and closet parallel to the foot of the beds, you have a lot more room to move around. YesOverall a great experience. Dining room anytime dining was cancelled one evening without telling us while we waited. Several times the silverware and plates were dirty. The stateroom bedding and carpeting was tired looking as compared to our cruise on the Ruby in 2011. Our stateroom steward, Genghis, was very accommodating, organized and kind. Michelangelo Dining room staff not nearly as happy and fun as with previous cruises. Bedroom chocolates were like paraffin. Excursion and tender staff were excellent and organized. Gathering suitcases from port upon disembarkation was chaotic; people going in and out the same direction. This was dangerous for some to possibly fall over those pulling carry-on luggage. The overall food was good, but not as good as with previous Princess cruises. The overall trip was good, but the service and food were somewhat below our previous Princess cruises.

No<div>The Ruby Princess was a nice ship and clean, however, it was not up to par as far as the other Princess ships we have traveled on. It seemed that the ship was so large that no one knew what was happening, and there seemed to be no concern. The head waiter in the dining room was not too concerned when we asked for a certain waiter on several occasions. We were not put with that waiter at all. Wonder if it was because there were three women and a man traveling together and we were being discriminated upon? My friend fell on one of the side excursions, and it was a major ordeal to get proper paper work completed and doctor paper work completed as she was not able to continue on another scheduled trip to Switzerland with us on Insight. As I said, there was no concern. This was my friend's first adventure on Princess, and needless to say, she was not impressed. Also, the side excursions were too rushed and there was no time for shopping in the local shops. It was always "be back to the bus in 10 minutes." The entertainment on the ship was not up to par either. We were very disappointed almost every night we went to the Princess Theater. There were many small things that led us to believe that the ship was not up to Princess standards. Princess can do better.</div>

We did have the Princess Patter, but on past cruises the cruise director kept everyone informed as to what was going on at different times of the day.
