Like a fallen leaf floating atop the water, AmaCerto floats effortlessly down Europe's most fascinating waterways. A harvest theme is carried throughout the ship in autumn reds and golds, from the spacious and well-appointed staterooms, with their plush bedding and soft robes, to the classically elegant Main Lounge with its baby grand piano and bar. An onboard salon puts you center stage and ready for your close-up. On the Sun Deck, a heated pool features a swim-up bar with underwater bar stools, and a walking track provides the perfect venue for a romantic sunrise or sunset stroll. And from the kitchen, you'll find fine dining to the extreme, with exquisite, regionally inspired cuisine prepared in both the Main Restaurant and at The Chef's Table specialty restaurant, where views of the rippling river are just the amuse-bouche to every mouthwatering bite.

Beautiful experience with fabulous ports, food and service. Great options of shore excursions and level of activity for tours.CONS
Would like to have more time in ports at the Christmas markets. Local entertainment onboard was lacking a bit.RECOMMENDED
No<div>I recently sailed on the AmaCerto from Amsterdam to Basel, for the Christmas Markets. I cannot say enough about AmaWaterways, they are an excellent river cruise company and take exceptional care of their guests onboard. The ship was stunning, very warm and welcoming. The ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas, with wreaths are each stateroom door. The onboard activities really got us into the spirit of Christmas, from tree decorating with mulled wine to Christmas carols with the staff and a visit from Santa with gifts for all. One evening we placed a shoe outside our door to be filled by St. Nick. Such a fun surprise! Due to the high water levels on the Rhine and a portion of the river closed, we had a slight change in itinerary that involved a ship swap to the AmaPrima (another beautiful ship). This change was communicated my Matija the Cruise Manager and the Captain in such a professional and reassuring manner. The change was seamless and the replacement ports and excursions did not disappoint. The ports and Christmas Markets were amazing. The decorations, lights, crafts, food and warm drinks were fabulous.</div>

We loved the Christmas market atmosphere and decorations. One disappointment was the merchandise and crafts at the market booths. Pretty much the same at all the markets. There were a few offering unusual items.RECOMMENDED

YesTo be fair, our experience was not a "real" experience. On a ship with capacity of 160, there were only 54 guests. NOT crowded! Our captain managed to sneak through the low water at Kaub and we did not have to change ships.

Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Great staff. Comfortable room. Good food, especially the soups!!!CONS
My room was drafty. Cold air coming in from the sliding glass doors despite being shut tight.RECOMMENDED
YesOverall, I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas Market cruise. I wished that we had MORE time in each port stop. Having an assortment of guides and bus drivers for everything was nice...but the tipping each and every day gets absurd. Many people did not have the change to tip, so that was unfortunate for the guides.

No<div>What a great week on the AmaCerto! The food is over the top (they even have their own baker onboard) and it is never ending. The only thing better than the food was the service. We felt pampered and spoiled from day one. The ports were great and we went on tours everyday. Be prepared to walk a lot. And the nice thing about the tours is that you don't have to worry about not getting the one you want. They can accommodate everyone. Such a great experience. We would highly recommend this river cruise to anyone!</div>

Barbeque on top deck - single lineRECOMMENDED
YesCruise Director was excellent; when low waters prevented us from docking in ports she quickly arranged to get people to those cities by bus and for those of us not wanting to take a long bus ride arranged tours in our docking port. Hosted a dinner with my Uncle and his family in Linz aboard the ship. Elvis was wonderful as was our waitress. Wonderful reunion with family. The ship in general was very nice. The rooms were well laid out, the lounge and bar were nice (excellent wine choices). Sun deck and views were phenomenal. 3 days in front of cruise in Prague is highly recommended.

Food: not bad, but not nearly good enoughRECOMMENDED
YesOverall, we had a great vacation. Our major disappointment was with the food. The portions were very small - almost tasting menu sized. Normally, this would not have been an issue for us, but there was, from our perspective, a limited number of choices, which meant that we were not necessarily interested every course. So, small portions meant we were not sufficiently satisfied at some of the meals. In general, breakfast was best and dinner theleast satisfying. For a high end cruise line, these food issues are an issue.

Would have enjoyed a little more relaxation time but I could have opted to skip some excursions, which I didn't want to do. Would have liked a little more free time to explore some of the wonderful places we visited but I'm not sure my wallet could have handled it.??RECOMMENDED
YesOverall, I have nothing but good things to say about AmaWaterways and the AmaCerto. Everything was handled to near perfection. Even the local guides were excellent! I met many really nice people, and I felt that the majority were in my age group. Although the weather was a bit chilly and damp some days, we also had some lovely sunny days. The trade off of going at a cooler time of year is it is less crowded and touristy. People didn't spend much time on the sun deck but the lounge afforded great views and I spent a few hours taking pictures from the sun deck of the many castles we passed on one day. Even my last impression was good as I left for the airport. My cruise manager met me in the lobby of the hotel (he had continued on with all of us doing the post-cruise extension) to see me off. The driver took me to the airport, and I was met there by an AmaWaterways representative to assist me with my bags, with check-in and walk me to security. What a wonderful extra touch!

YesReturned from a Rhine River Cruise aboard the Amacerto. The staff is impeccable. The dining is first rate. If you want a cruise for adults with exceptional food, wonderful local wines, and attention to detail in service, this is a great fit. The Rhine water level was very low. At one point there was less than a foot of water under the keel of the boat. The captain and his crew did a magnificent job navigating the channel to keep everyone safe and the boat on schedule. Active seniors and adults wanting a little more laid back cruise will find this cruise very enjoyable. The dining is wonderful and the dress code is more khaki slacks and button up shirts for men, and slacks and blouses for the women. The onboard gift shop is small, and the prices are very competitive with the market. You won't feel like you were gouged by the gift shop. The laundry service is also reasonably priced and convenient too. The onboard pianist plays mostly 70's, 80, and 90's music. However, when asked to play Chopin, he didn't miss a note! Some things didn't go as well with some excursions, but were not at all a reflection of the staff or their professionalism. It was chilly even for October, but that's the chance you take. We wished we had more time in some of the towns, but the ship has a schedule they need to keep too. We were able to hit the highlights, but didn't have time to explore much. Many of the sites were crowded with tourists like us. If you are travelling with children or want adrenalin filled bungee jumping, water slides, casinos and 24/7 drinking this is not your cruise. If you are wanting constant photo opportunities with stunning castles and historic towns, this is a must.
