wine selection, tours, evening showsRECOMMENDED
NoThe ship was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, the speaker was informative and interactive, the shows were very entertaining and the laundry service was a valuable asset. Some things Regency could improve is the wine selection. The cruise provides access to pretty much a full bar, but the selection of wines only include a couple that are of a high enough quality to drink. Many of the offerings, to me, were not enjoyable. The evening shows were very good, but they started at 9:30 pm. They ended very late, especially if you had a morning excursion. Suggest a 8:30 pm or maybe even a 9:00 pm start. The tour guides fell short, especially when there was a 1 hr or 1-1/2 hr drive to your destination. Limited information, limited ability to communicate in understandable english. Most of the destinations had printed material once you arrived that would have been very helpful and useful if distributed to the passengers on the bus during the drive out from the ship. Also, the tour guides did not use "whispers" to communicate when on tour, so if you weren't standing next to the guide, you had no idea what they were saying. You were pretty much dropped off and left to figure out everything on your own. One exception, our particular tour guide in S. Korea (Helena) was EXCELLENT.

Food was inconsistent and shore excursions not well planned for the demographic of the ship's passengers.RECOMMENDED
YesThe description of the excursions that was presented on-line was wrong and not correctly described by on-board staff to make it clear just how difficult some of the excursions were. Cooking classes were exceptional. Breakfast food portions in the main dining room were very small and the service was inconsistent. Best restaurant was Chartreuse where food was excellent, and service was outstanding.

our first time on ship was comfortable in size & design. Staff & crew were friendly, knowledgeable, & helpful. Steward, waitresses, & waiters & maitre'ds were attentive & helpful too. Food was delicious in all public areas as well as specialty restaurants. Able to enjoy lunch at 2 specialty restaurants. Shore excursions were enjoyable & enriching.CONS
There was no tour of ship or even a video about different areas. Map was helpful. Would liked overview of ports of call & excursions listed.RECOMMENDED
YesThe week of Inside Passage Cruise to Alaska was awesome. Ports of call were enjoyable & unique in their own way. Enjoyed the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, Salmon bake, crab fest & Alaskan wildlife. Tour guides in each port were informative & "experts" in their field. Our stay in Juneau was short; could hv shortened stay in Skagway. However, realize & understand the size & scope of Alaska so Capt knows best. Hopefully, will be able to return to revisit Alaska & explore more of "last frontier"! MAHALO & ALOHA to crew & staff of Seven Seas Explorer for many memorable memories.

Staff, shore excursions, food, lectures, evening entertainment/shows, cabin qualityCONS
Internet and better selection of complementary winesRECOMMENDED
NoThe service level is fantastic, the evening shows were high quality for this size of ship, the cabins are spacious and luxurious, the spa is excellent and large, and the food is some of the best I've had at sea. In addition, the shore excursions were well-organized and were all high quality. Additional praise must be given to the onboard lecturer as well. I'm not normally one for onboard lectures, but I was absolutely captivated by his presentation on humpback whales and loved his commentary over the loudspeaker when we went to Hubbard Glacier. Negatives are rare, but the main thing that could use some improvement is the "complementary" wifi. Only one device can use it at a time (Concierge categories and higher get 4 devices) through a single log-in per cabin and the speed/quality is not acceptable for most activities, especially not work. Thankfully, you can upgrade the speed for $10 extra per day, but paying for an extra device would be quite expensive. The only other area of improvement was in the complementary wine selection. It was hit and miss. There were 2-3 wines I liked, but the rest left a bit to be desired. Considering the top shelf spirits included, you expect a little more investment in the wine selection. To their credit, the wines offered are still better than many other cruise lines, but it could still be improved considering the price point of the cruise line.

Spotty service at timesRECOMMENDED
No<div>The specialty restaurants were excellent and the service was excellent as well. I thought the ship did a great job with helping people, that didn't have advance reservation get reservations. The service in the main dining room was also excellent and the menu was expansive, so almost anything you might want was on there. The only place that I thought was not up to par was the buffet and sometimes the grill. The service was spotty, even for coming around with coffee in the morning at the buffet. I was impressed with the variety of the entertainment each night and thought it was very good for a ship this size. Shore excursions were lead by young people that were very passionate about Alaska, and nature. I would have liked to see someone from Regent on each excursion, just to have an extra layer of back up for anything that might happen. The public rooms and the dining venues were all lovely and so well appointed. One thing I learned and would definitely advise clients, is that days at sea, you can check the daily bulletin and at least 1 specialty restaurant is open for lunch. Senior staff were all excellent, cruise director, head concierges, assistant purser, Food and beverage manager, etc. All helpful and took the time to meet with me. There was a language problem with 1 of the front desk people, during the cruise. She was hard to understand and told some people that they would not take their luggage at the end of the cruise they would have to move it by themselves.</div>

YesTraveling with Regent SS Explorer to Alaska in June 2023 was fabulous! Our Consiere suite was plush and comfortable with a large walk in closet and balcony, and the 2 sink bathroom with shower and tub was top quality!! The bed/linens were so very comfortable! The crew was amazing and worked so hard to make sure our every need was met! Always smiling and polite!! Food was devine and delicious as we were able to try new tastes/experiences that we ordinarily would not order!! There was always something fun to experience for entertainment- trivia, movie, bingo, bag toss, nightly shows, casino fun!! Our ports and excursions were top quality: Taku Lodge Seaplane Adventure, White Pass Rail Excursion, Lumber Jack Show, Gondola Ride!! The ship was very clean and the crew was constantly working to keep everything sparkling and fresh!! Would recommend only a few areas for improvement:: improvement on pick-up at the airport as we -and another group -were overlooked due to later arrival (Regent scheduled air reservation); logistics with port transportation as the ship docks outside center city ; improved/longer hours for Destination Desk on ship as 8-11a and 5-7 p was not enough; WiFi network needs improvement. Overall, fabulous trip with Regent SS Explorer and I would recommend this ship/trip to all that demand a little MORE when they TRAVEL!!!!! ;)

Excellent service, food, and cleanliness of ship.CONS
More variety needed in boutiques; better entertainmentRECOMMENDED
YesIt was difficult for us to use our shipboard credits in the boutiques, as there's not much variety for the "younger" passengers, especially in the clothing department. MOST of the excursions seemed too "rushed", and there was very little (if not any) time to do souvenir shopping. Some of the city tour guides were difficult to understand because of their strong accents. It would be nice to have food that goes with the area we are cruising.....i.e. more japanese food for the Japan cruises, Mediterranean food for the Mediterranean cruises, etc. That would be one way of enjoying the different types of food while onboard the ship, as we hardly have any time to check out the food in the port cities. Loved that we met some of the same crew members from another cruise! It felt like we had "family" onboard! We befriended more crew members, hoping to see them on our next cruises! Totally loved the complimentary laundry Service! That's a big PLUS when we tell our friends about it! It makes it much easier to pack for the cruise, knowing you won't have to take so many suitcases.

The wine list seems to have been upgraded since our last cruise in 2019 so we didn't bother using our shipboard credit for additional wines. The food quality & presentation was 5 Star! Smiles were on every team member's face and they went out of their way to assist. I typically do not care for the evening shows but the entertainment staff and presentation was so good that we went night after night! There were missed precruise hotel staff & communications but that worked out in the end. Shore excursions continue to run longer than expected sometimes due to traffic and sometimes due to guests selecting excursions that were beyond their activity level which we are seeing more and more. Postcruise touring with Regent was spot on!

No<div>No question the ship is in a league of its own. Sailing was about 75% occupancy. Excellent and friendly service. There were about 5 crew members from Crystal now working onboard. They were very excited to be a part of Regent with no intention to return to Crystal 2.0. </div>

YesRegent claims to be the most luxurious ship afloat and in many respects, it may well be. The cabin accommodations are very comfortable. The entire crew behaved professional and courteous. And the numerous shore excursions were well managed, interesting and informative. I think my disappointment was the result of Regent over hyping their cruise experience. The food was maybe better than most but not exceptional. For such a small amount of money, they could afford to enhance their salad selection, sauce preparations, and portions. Often, meals seemed "institutional". The internet was weak and spotty and often non existent- even when in port. The audio from the cabin tv was so bad we had to turn it off. My complaints were met with deaf ear.

No<div>I had a great time on the Explorer and found the crew and ship to be exceptional. The ship itself is beautiful, impeccably clean, and maintained in perfect condition Checking-in was easy and flawless - Regent has the covid testing down to a science. I was in an F2 category (Superior Category) The Superior Suite bathroom has two large sinks, a shower and separate tub. The stateroom was perfectly and spotlessly maintained. The food was excellent. Prime 7 and Compass Rose were my favorites . The most impressive part of dining throughout the ship was the service...simply outstanding.. I was addressed by name by the crew members. Regent's crew make their guests feel extremely valued and welcome. The entertainment was excellent, Regent has really improved their entertainment. The Broadway production shows were my favoritem. Service was marginal when staff changed during different times throughout the duration of the cruiseRECOMMENDED
YesWiFi Services should be offered for the entire duration of the cruise. Unclear why WiFi was stopped at 6am on the day of disembarkation. Everyone was required to leave by 8am on disembarkation day , so having WiFi services until 8am would be a reasonable service offered to all cruise passengers. Also, credits earned for playing games should be easily redeemed and not have to play the “wait in line for an hour” game...then not be able to get the correct shirt size or items requested after the aggregation of standing in a long line. There are more efficient ways to redeem game points—filling out a form and picking up items before the day of disembarkation. Also, I experienced a noticeable decline in service received as the cruise came to an end...this should not be the case since the cruise ships prides itself on its services (i. e. at the beginning of the cruise room maintenance were much attentive to items needed in the cabin; as time went on, toiletries had to be requested more regularly.)

YesOur experience on Regent (two cruises to date) has been outstanding. We opted for a Concierge level cabin on our last cruise and this included free business class flights to and from Europe and one free night at an elegant hotel in Venice pre-cruise . All transfers to and from the airport, ship, hotels were efficient and easy. Embarkation and disembarkation were handled smoothly. The staff and crew are excellent. I just can't say enough good things about this cruise line.

YesWe were very impressed with the ship itself as it is beautifully appointed in and out. The cabin was spectacular with more storage space than we needed, excellent walk-in closet and fabulous bathroom. The food in Prime 7 and Chartreuse was good but not excellent and the food in Sette Mari and La Veranda was variable. Breakfast in La Veranda was very hit and miss with some poor service and overcrowding. The excursions were somewhat disorganized with not enough time allowed to visit the Titanic Museum or Chester or Holyrood House. There was no manicurist for the entire voyage. While the shows in the Constellation Theatre were good to very good the music in the Meridian Lounge and the Explorer Lounge was too loud. The Regent dancers and singers were excellent as was the choreography. The lectures were interesting but the speaker was quite dull.

The organization, efficiency for coming and going is spot on. The crew, as always, gracious and helpful, Sonja in the Explorer Lounge actually found the tiny back to the earring that I lost and brought it to me while we were dining in the Compass Rose. Some of the design on the ship seemed to be very disconnected, not the staterooms but the common areas. The artwork was very dark and though the significance of a piece of art is subjective, I saw it as very unpleasant to look at.RECOMMENDED

NoThe quality of the dining has improved greatly vs Regent's other three ships. Service in the dining rooms has always been lacking on Regent, and while the dining service is improved on the Explorer, much continued improvement is needed. Dining room service levels is a consistent complaint that we receive from our Regent clients. Show entertainment has improved meaningfully. Show entertainment has always been a shortfall of Regent, and it appears that it is improved on the Explorer.

NoThis new ship offers all suites and all balconies for a total of 750 guests. There are three specialty restaurants on board. Pacific Rim, Prime 7 and Chartreuse. All which require a reservation. No worries there are two other fantastic choices for a great culinary experience. Compass Rose which is the main dining room has excellent choices and was always superb. Another great option was their Italian themed restaurant Sette Mari. Plenty of great wines to pair with all the meals too. They also have a Culinary Arts Kitchen with many different classes to sign up for. This a a first for Regent and was very popular. The production shows that we went to were very good. The Cruise Director was absolutely the best I have ever seen. He was even part of the entertainment. We thoroughly enjoyed the on board Lectures. The speaker was always available for Q & A and was on many of the shore excursions which made interaction with the guests quite enjoyable. It is always exciting to experience a new ship. Ship's doctorRECOMMENDED
YesOverall our experience was fantastic. This is our fifth Regent cruise and the best in terms of service from the crew (except ship's doctor) and the comfort of the ship. As always food was excellent; accommodations throughout like a five-star hotel. The SS Explorer is quite an upgrade from the Voyager, Mariner and Navigator (though it's my understanding they've been upgraded since we last sailed on them). They have learned a lot about how to make things efficient for passengers in the suites and throughout the ship. My wife had to see the ship's doctor for a bad cold. In the forms she had to complete, she listed her allergies. He prescribed an over-the-counter med with an ingredient that is one of her allergies. He should have caught that. And of course we should have checked the ingredients ourselves. She broke out into a rash. Once we identified the allergic ingredient, she discontinued taking the med and the rash cleared up. The doc should have made the connection first, however. But we consider this an anomaly in the overall Regent experience. Otherwise, all was outstanding.
